Training
Master Of Social Science, Certificate of Qualification in Social work, Community and Youth Work Certificate. Advanced management training and coaching by The Coverdale Organisation 1990-1991. Racism Awareness Training, Equal Opportunities and Selection Interviewing - Birmingham Social Services Department 1986. Operational and Financial Management - Birmingham Social Services Department 1984 and other professional and in-service courses whilst working with the Birmingham Social Services Department and The Children's Society.

The module in Research Methods was an important component of Rodney Reed's Master of Social Science Degree course. Research insights and methodology coupled with subsequent experience informs much of the work of Reed Consultancies.

Experience
Rodney Reed established Reed Consultancies in 1997 to offer management and business consultancy, training, fundraising, development and capacity building to 'not for private profit' organisations and charities in the UK and to overseas NGO's.

Since that time Rodney Reed has worked with a wide variety of faith based organisations, community groups and voluntary organisations usually in cross cultural settings. He has enabled these organisations to prepare Feasibility Studies, Business Plans and successful funding applications. Rodney Reed's bid writing experienced includes grant making trusts, Neighbourhood Renewal Fund, European Social Fund, European Regional Development Fund and support in Heritage Lottery and Community Fund applications.

Rodney Reed has been employed in social work (fieldwork) and in management and at directorate level. He worked in a local government Social Services Department; in a national child care charity, in a specialist child protection charity and in the private sector. Much of his career was been spent in multi-cultural inner city areas. He is a Trustee of a national grant making trust 'Help the Homeless'. He has made six visits to Romania to work with aid projects in the town of Sebes-Alba.
